3 Myths About Anti-Wrinkle Injections

3 MYTHS ABOUT ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS

Below we discuss 3 myths about anti-wrinkle injections that we have found people always want to know.

1. MYTH: IF YOU INJECT MORE DURING A TREATMENT THE EFFECTS LAST LONGER.

Not so. Research performed by doctors has shown that no matter how much you inject the toxin remains efficacious for the same length of time.

What does this mean? It means you should choose an amount that achieves the effect you want (normally anti-wrinkle injections are fully effective a few days after treatment) and repeat as necessary. Rather than paying more and looking weird and unnatural.

Note: After receiving treatments that produce natural-looking results, smaller amounts or less frequent treatments are needed in the future.

2. MYTH: ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS CAN HELP WITH ANY FACIAL “WRINKLE.”

Anti-wrinkle injections are most often used to efface lines in the upper face and certainly, cannot help with the line from the corner of the nose to the mouth (nasolabial line).

It is a common request to help improve the nasolabial line but this is best done with fillers or threads.

3. MYTH: ONCE YOU START HAVING ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS YOU HAVE TO KEEP HAVING TREATMENTS.

Nonsense.  Of course one can cease having anti-wrinkle injections at any time and nothing is lost.  Anti-wrinkle injections stop the muscular pulls on the skin caused by the underlying muscle and over time, the absence of pulls on the skin stops the wrinkle caused by the pull.  Once the muscle is active again the pull and ageing return but the ageing is beginning from a “younger” starting point.
