Dermal Therapist Tamara’s first PRP experience!

Tamara BCMCHi, I’m Tamara and I have recently joined the wonderful team at B.C.M.C.  As a dermal therapist I’m here to assist with advice and treatments for your skin concerns.

So today I’d like to talk to you about my experience having my first P.R.P. skin treatment, otherwise known as the vampire facial. For those of you who have googled images of this may be a little horrified!!! But trust me, it’s not as bad as it looks.

So firstly one of the amazing doctors or nurses here will collect a tube of blood and separate the Platelet Rich Plasma. Then the P.R.P. is infused back into the skin (face, neck or decolletage) during a process of skin needling.

WHY???

The P.R.P. contains growth factors that initiate the tissue regeneration process. This stimulates new collagen production, improves skin colour, elasticity, tone and thickness.

SO…. HOW DID IT FEEL???

Because we use numbing gel is was actually pretty painless, just a little scratchy!

DOWN TIME ???

Yes! The first night I was bright red and a little tender to touch!

Day 2 – A bit swollen still but able to leave the house, however not able to do a sweaty workout!

Day 4 & 5 – Dead skin was shedding and make-up not looking so great!

One week on and my skin feels thicker, softer and looks clearer. I have honestly already received compliments on how fresh my skin looks. Make up sits smooth and I’m totally happy with results. Best part is my skin will keep improving over the next 4-6 weeks as the new collagen fibres are forming to fill out, repair and rejuvenate my skin.
